HELIOS G8 discontinues support for Oracle Solaris SPARC

As most customers have migrated their Solaris SPARC based servers to other hardware using different operating systems, there is no need to support SPARC servers anymore.

HELIOS has supported SPARC computers with Solaris 8 and higher for over two decades. However, there is no customer demand for this, nor active HELIOS service agreements for SPARC based servers.

Existing sites using Solaris SPARC servers can still continue using it, they can also install HELIOS G8 on a new SPARC server. However, we discontinue the support for Solaris SPARC which means no further G8 updates, no future releases for SPARC based computer will be published.

We don’t see any problem discontinuing SPARC support, customers can migrate to HELIOS G8 supported platform, see: www.helios.de/platforms.
