HELIOS Document Hub public preview for Android

Hannover, Germany, July 12, 2016 – HELIOS Software today released a public preview of the HELIOS Document Hub 2.0 app for Android users. Document Hub enables companies to securely share intranet file server volumes to mobile users. Document Hub for Android offers the same capabilities and ease of use that are already enjoyed by users of the iOS version of Document Hub 2.0 for iPad/iPhone, which has been available since March 2016. Document Hub for Android has been developed from scratch to ensure that intuitive operation on Android devices is guaranteed, and to support all major Android versions (4.1 Jelly Bean - 7.0 Nougat).

HELIOS Document Hub is a mobile app that connects to the HELIOS WebShare web portal running on a company’s file server. With Document Hub, remote users can browse and preview server files. Documents can be downloaded to Document Hub for offline use, and opened in other applications. Photos and documents created or edited on the mobile device can be uploaded to the server. Server files can quickly be found via the Spotlight search system, browsed in list mode, or via the convenient gallery view with zoomable document previews. File synchronization copies specified server files and folders to Document Hub for offline use.

WebShare runs on a company’s file server to enable it as a “private cloud” web portal. Multi-user support is built-in by design, server file permissions are enforced, and user authentication is fully compatible with enterprise directory services.
