Windows Vista/2008 and Windows 7 browsing with PCShare

Using Windows Vista or newer, a login to a PCShare 4.5.1 server may fail if either a WINS server name is set for PCShare that differs from its host (or DNS) name, or if client and server are in different DNS (sub-)domains.

Apparently, the connection is established and Windows displays the login dialog, but the login will fail repeatedly with a username/password error message.

If so, the IP address or the fully qualified DNS hostname must be used to connect to the PCShare server (e.g. "servername.example.com" instead of "wins-servername").

If the server's WINS name differs from its DNS name, you can temporarily set the server's WINS name to its DNS name.

If client and server are in different DNS domains, you can specify to search multiple "DNS suffixes" in the "Advanced TCP settings" properties, tab "DNS", of your client's network card.

The HELIOS update u0841 solves this problem.
